Beechworth and Yackandandah have had their own studios operating for a few years – and now its Chiltern’s turn. The soon-to-be Indigo FM studio is being put together at The Telegraph Hotel and will soon be operating 24 hours a day. It will be a useful tool for the community and a way of distributing information to residents about any topic as well as being a form of entertainment. Not everyone uses Facebook or are computer savvy – but most people have a radio.
Indigo FM is a narrowcast, non-commercial, local radio station with the signal range of about 5kms. The radio station will still be operating even when no presenter is on air. A playlist compiled by some presenters which contains about 70% Australian artists will be played during these times as well as announcements from community groups local sponsors.

You could do a music show ( new or old – any style ) – an education show – a health show – or you might be a member of a local service club and want to have another way of communicating your message to the local community – it’s up to you. Instruction is provided – and don’t worry if you don’t feel you have any music to play – select songs from the stations main playlist – or use any of the CD’s at the station. Easy! You may also think you don’t have the ‘voice’ for radio – that’s great! There will be two of us – so give it a go. Your show might be weekly or fortnightly – it depends on your availability. The more presenters we have the more we can inform and entertain the community. Be a part of it – it will be fun.
