Experience and new blood to lead Indigo FM in 2018-19

Indigo FM will be led by an experienced team for the next 12 months whilst also embracing the opportunity to add new blood.

Last night’s 2018 AGM was held at the very beautiful Wooragee Hall whereby the following Committee of Management were elected:

President – Scott Landells

Vice-President – Bernie Jovaras

Treasurer – Andrea Leonard

Secretary – Greg Clydesdale

General Committee – Karen Keegan, Phil Fraser.

Each Executive member has considerable experience at this level and collectively boast a deep skill-set in community and business leadership as well as the management of local radio via Indigo FM.

Karen Keegan and Phil Fraser will each serve their first full term on the CoM.

Karen Keegan is a very experienced community lawyer who lives at Osbornes Flat and joined as a presenter at our Yackandandah site a little over a year ago. Karen was co-opted on to the CoM in April 2018 and boasts exceptional skills in community and business leadership as well as a passion for local radio.

Phil Fraser has been a very enthusiastic listener at our Beechworth site for a number of years and has been a member for the past year. He has an extensive music collection of vinyl LPs, CDs and digital as well as an accompanying wealth of knowledge about all genres of music. Phil will bring this genuine passion for music and local radio to Indigo FM and we look forward to his valuable contribution.

Stepping down from the Committee are Ian Gracie, Norm Gay and Denis Ginnivan all due to either business / personal reasons. We thank each for their valued contribution on our CoM and look forward to their ongoing involvement.

Get ready Chiltern – 87.6 Indigo FM is coming your way soon

Ian Charlton and Scott Landells at the controls of the soon-to-be on air Indigo FM Chiltern site at the Telegraph Hotel

Beechworth and Yackandandah have had their own studios operating for a few years – and now its Chiltern’s turn. The soon-to-be Indigo FM studio is being put together at The Telegraph Hotel and will soon be operating 24 hours a day. It will be a useful tool for the community and a way of distributing information to residents about any topic as well as being a form of entertainment. Not everyone uses Facebook or are computer savvy – but most people have a radio.

Indigo FM is a narrowcast, non-commercial, local radio station with the signal range of about 5kms. The radio station will still be operating even when no presenter is on air. A playlist compiled by some presenters which contains about 70% Australian artists will be played during these times as well as announcements from community groups local sponsors.

If you are interested in being a presenter – contact us via our Facebook page ( Indigo FM ) or  email [email protected]. The content of the radio show is up to the presenter. You could do a music show ( new or old – any style ) – an education show – a health show – or you might be a member of a local service club and want to have another way of communicating your message to the local community –  it’s up to you. Instruction is provided – and don’t worry if you don’t feel you have any music to play – select songs from the stations main playlist – or use any of the CD’s at the station. Easy! You may also think you don’t have the ‘voice’ for radio – that’s great! There will be two of us – so give it a go. Your show might be weekly or fortnightly – it depends on your availability. The more presenters we have the more we can inform and entertain the community. Be a part of it – it will be fun.

Playlist Launch 12.0 – June 2018

Our latest playlist has launched in recent days at each site. It has 70% Australian content and features music from many of the artists who played  recent Music Festivals throughout Indigo Shire as well as a number of live to air performances. Big thanks to all our contributors. On this occasion we had presenters from each of our Beechworth, Chiltern and Yackandandah sites contribute – in a few weeks we will record a two hour preview of the playlist to go to air at each site. Indigo FM presents Daniel Champagne in concert – Yackandandah Public Hall – 2 June 2018

Indigo FM presents its first concert featuring acclaimed singer songwriter guitarist Daniel Champagne as he makes a triumphant return to Yackandandah on Saturday 2 June at Yackandandah Public Hall.

“We are incredibly excited to be promoting Daniel Champagne’s upcoming Yackandandah concert. These days Champagne is based in Nashville Tennessee, and securing his agreement to include Yackandandah on his Snap Shot National tour was surprisingly easy as Daniel has long wanted to return to Yackandandah,” said Indigo FM President Scott Landells.

Daniel’s enthusiasm is high to do this concert. “It’s exciting to be coming back to Yackandandah for my first show in many years! I had the opportunity to play in the area from the good people at the Folk Festival back when i was just starting out – I fell in love with the place…such a cool town and wonderful people. I grew up in a regional area up in NSW myself so when I do get back to Australia, I like to tour through the major cities plus as many smaller towns as I can get to. Massive thanks to Indigo FM for helping us put Yackandandah on the list for 2018…I can’t wait to be back!” Champagne said.

A playlist of Daniel’s music can be found here https://soundcloud.com/scott-585203359/sets/daniel-champagne

Support act for the night will be local duo Forgotten Land who are Gem and Dave King. Gem tells stories through song and takes you on a journey through their life largely spent in the UK in the city of Bath where they met. They moved to Australia to Sydney and then Melbourne before settling in beautiful Yackandandah, living here for 2 years now. Gem sings from the heart with emotion and Dave accompanies her with his funky rhythms on percussion, including the djembe and cajon.

Tickets are $20 pre-sale (aged 15 and over, children under 15 are free) and can be booked on-line from the link below or purchased from the Yackandandah Newsagency, 24 High Street, Yackandandah.

Doors open from 6:30pm, Music from 7:30pm.

Exciting news – Indigo FM has found a home in Chiltern!

The Telegraph Hotel Chiltern have agreed to provide a room for Indigo FM to set up a radio site in the beautiful heritage town. This exciting news marks the beginning of an exciting phase for the volunteer-run local radio station.

Indigo FM Chiltern will put out a local signal with an approximate radius of 5km on 87.6FM. The station will be on air 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year and will be run entirely by volunteers.
